Gas leak Causing Traffic Chaos - 1st April 2007

A gas escape caused major headaches in Lenzie as Road works in front of Lenzie Old Parish Church brought traffic to a standstill around Lenzie Station.

The traffic lights at the Heath Road were replaced with temporary lights to allow traffic to pass single file pass the Church leading at times to queues going back as far as Gillespies Garage. A spokesman for McAlpine who are undertaking the work informed us that the Gas leak had been fixed, and as of Monday the holes had been backfilled and he expected the lights to be removed Tuesday or at latest Wednesday.

But ... as soon as one roadworks were repaired, and other began further down the Kirkintilloch road!
