CairnGorm Mountain, just nine miles from Aviemore, has a reputation as one of the most beautiful places to ski in the UK. Indeed it was recently selected as one of the 10 Essential Ski Resorts in the World in a feature in the Independent newspaper …’when conditions there are good they are among the best in the world.’ The resort also boasts Scotland’s only funicular railway. Whether you are a skier or not, the ride on the train to the Ptarmigan Top Station is a unique experience with an opportunity to take in fantastic panoramic views.

There is a wide range of routes on offer for skiers and boarders to make the 400m descent, the longest being 3.3km. Twelve lifts provide the uplift at the resort which includes seven green, six blue, eight red, and one black run. It is therefore a resort for all levels of ability.

CairnGorm Mountain also has the Vans terrain/fun park with rails and kickers for freestyle fans to enjoy and a sledging park at the top station for children and grown–up children!

A day’s snowsports costs £29 for an adult and £17.50 for a child aged 6-16.
