SOS Auchinloch

North Lanarkshire Council have drawn up plans to allow developers to build 93 houses in a greenfield site in the heart of Auchinloch. Auchinloch has outstanding views/scenery and wildlife and according to local campaigners: "dodgey develpers" have targeted their village before, with some success - which they "are still paying the price". But Auchinloch is supposed to be protected under a policy as an area of special character, particularly in the old village (where they plan to build) which in the main dates back to 1600's, with many of the cottages, from famers and weavers, standing proud. Local campaigners were particularly angered by the approach of the council: "North Lanarkshire Council ignore all this" said a spokeperson for Auchinloch SOS "they are building on greenbelt, but they have started work even though the plans have not been offically approved and not one resident has been consulted" Full details and pictures are available at auchinloch.bravehost.com
