Opening of New Woodhead Park Leisure Centre

At long last, residents and visitors to Lenzie and Kirkintilloch will finally have our pool back again - and for a few days we may even use it free of charge! When the doors open on Saturday 21 July we will be able to use the facilities at our brand new £7.6m leisure centre without paying.

During the opening weekend, leisure centre staff will run a free programme of activities in the centre and in Woodhead Park giving visitors a chance to try out all that the centre has to offer.

Those of us who have had the chance to see the leisure centre are very much looking forward to being able to use the facilities. But with that anticipation comes a tinge of regret. Regular users of Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome have come to really appreciate the staff at the centre - particularly for the friendly smile that always greeted us and perhaps this is the opportunity to extend a tremendous:

From Monday 23 July, families will be able to go swimming in the 25 metre pool, play badminton, football or tennis and older children and adults will be able to get fit in the 70 station, state-of-the-art Club Max gym.

Ahead of the official opening, a series of special preview visits have been organised for local schools, sports clubs, the centre's neighbours and Councillors. There will also be an Open Week from Monday 9 to Sunday 15 July 2007 from 10am-8pm for adults wishing to get a look at the Club Max gym and to discuss membership packages.
